Witold Kaczanowski
He was born on the 15th of May, 1932 in Warsaw. Polish graphic artist, painter, sculptor and photographer. He studied at he Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts (Graphics Faculty). Kaczanowski attended, among others, Wojciech Fangor and Henryk Tomaszewski classes. In 1969 he left for the USE and since 1980 he has been living and working in Denver - but also in his own workshop in Warsaw. His rich artistic activity includes easel painting, sculpture, graphics and photography. A typical element of composition in his paintings are small human creatures hanging in undefined and unclear space. Figures remain anonymous and lost - these are an evidence of loneliness and alienation. Kaczanowski operates with symbols and infinite color palette. Motifs of doors and ladders symbolize hope for, that there is another world, which connects earthly life with sacrum.
