Jan Dobkowski
Born in Łomża in 1942. Between 1962 and 68 studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Graduated from the studio of prof. Jan Cybis at the Faculty of Painting in 1968 (H.M.Rector's Award for the best diploma). 1972 - scholar of the Kościuszko Foundation in New York. 1978 - C.K. Norwid Memorial Art Critic's Prize winner, 1994 - J. Cybis Memorial Prize winner. 1998 - Honour Citizenship of Łomża. 1967-2002 over 100 individual exhibitions in Poland and abroad, i.e. New York - Bodley Gallery, Los Angeles - William Hunter Gallery, Warsaw - Zachęta Gallery, Hamburg - Meissner Galerie, Warsaw Art Centre 'Studio', Pennsylvania University USA, Warsaw - Archdiocesial Museum, Poznań - National Museum, District Museum in Łomża, Canberra Australia - Drill Hall Gallery and others.
