Ryszard Otreba
Was born In 1932. Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow 1953-59; and Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY 1966-1967; Full Professor Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. Visiting Professor Sydney College of the Arts 1981 and 1984 Australia, University of Connecticut w Storrs 1993 USA. Participated in numbers of print and drawing exhibitions in Poland and abroad. His prints and drawings have been shown in 75 one-man exhibitions in Krakow, Warszaw, Gdańsk, Lodz, Lublin, Opole, Torun as well as in Sydney, Melbourne, Nuernberg, Bielefeld, Bochum, Stockholm, Rome, Brussels, New York, Rochester-NY, Pittsburgu-Pa, San Juan-Porto Rico, Tokyo, Geneve. Represented in permanent collections of: National Museums in Krakow, Warszaw, Poznan, Gdańsk, Museum of Contemporary Art in Lodz, and Museum of Modern Art & Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, The Library of Congress and Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC, Philadelphia Museum, Art Institute in Chicago, Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Ludwig Sammlung in Cologne, Staatliche Kunstsammlungen in Dresno, Biblioteque National in Paris, Tate Gallery and Victoria & Albert Museum in London, Sammlung Albertina in Vienna, Fundacao C.Gulbenkian in Lisbon, Australian National Gallery in Canberra, National Museum of Art in Tokyo, Centre de la Gravure in La Louviere and many others.
