Piotr Fąfrowicz
Born in 1958, he studied at the Art History Department of the Catholic University of Lublin, graduating with distinction in 1982. He is active as an illustrator, designer and painter; he has illustrated six books. Awards: 2nd prize at the Illustration Biennial 2001 (Aki Town, Japan), unpublished illustrations; IBBY Polish Section’s honorary mention in the ‘Book of the Year 2003’ competition for illustrations to Zielony, żółty, rudy, brązowy! [Green, Yellow, Russet, Brown!] by M. Strzałkowska; prize in the PTWK competition for the Best Designed Books of the Year for illustrations to Leon i kotka, czyli jak rozumieć mowę zegara [Leon and the Pussy Cat, or how to Understand the Clock’s Tongue] by G. Ruszewska and, for the same book, honorary mention of the IBBY Polish Section’s ‘Book of the Year 2004’ competition; also entered on the White Raven list (special distinction) of the Internationale Jugendbibliothek in Munich, Germany; prize in the PTWK competition for the Best Designed Books of the Year 2005 for illustrations to Wielkie zmiany w dużym lesie [Big Changes in a Little Forest] by G. Ruszewska (FRO9, 2005) and for the same book graphic award in IBBY Polish Section’s ‘Book of the Year 2006’ prize.
